But our field experience has revealed a more nuanced reality: money and personal interests can sometimes take precedence over the beneficiaries.<br data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"843\">At <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"865\">Helping Hands<\/strong>, we have made a clear choice: <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"950\">to support the smallest humanitarian organisations<\/strong> and to stand by <strong data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"983\">the \"invisible\"<\/strong> \u2014 those local actors who transform the lives not only of children, but of all people in highly vulnerable situations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1129\" data-end=\"1314\" class=\" translation-block\">\ud83d\udd17 <em data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1168\">Discover our other actions too<\/em> \u2192 <a href=\"https:\/\/helpinghands.fr\/projets-nepal\" target=\"_self\">Our projects in Nepal<\/a>| <a class=\"cursor-pointer\" href=\"https:\/\/helpinghands.fr\/projets-philippines\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1314\">Our commitment in the Philippines<\/a><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1319\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1357\">\ud83d\udcb0 When money takes the lead<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1570\">In the course of our meetings, we encountered a troubling phenomenon: some NGO managers, even in the humanitarian field, prioritise their own financial security over the real needs of the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1999\">A striking example: the head of a long-established international organisation insisted that we work with him. What was his motivation? His historical sponsors were pulling out after 35 years, and he was afraid of losing his salary. This experience reinforced our conviction that our help must go where the commitment is sincere, <strong data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"1998\">towards those who act first and foremost for the most vulnerable, and not to preserve a position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2138\" data-end=\"2175\">\ud83d\udcc8 Overinflated project budgets<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2177\" data-end=\"2510\" class=\" translation-block\">We have also seen projects whose costs have changed worryingly.<br data-start=\"2257\" data-end=\"2260\">A school project initially presented at \u20ac60 per child per year has risen to \u20ac400, with an overall budget multiplied by three.<br data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2392\">These discrepancies are not always linked to real needs, but sometimes to intermediaries who inflate the figures.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2512\" data-end=\"2637\">\ud83d\udca1 <em data-start=\"2515\" data-end=\"2525\">Read more:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transparency.org\/fr\">How to ensure transparency in humanitarian projects\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2639\" data-end=\"2642\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"2644\" data-end=\"2677\">\ud83e\udd1d Opportunistic partnerships<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2679\" data-end=\"3042\">The most difficult thing is to realise that certain 'partners' or 'friends' disappear as soon as they lose interest.<br data-start=\"2806\" data-end=\"2809\" \/>In Nepal, as elsewhere, we have seen links severed simply because we were no longer directly funding their projects.<br data-start=\"2942\" data-end=\"2945\" \/>For us, a humanitarian commitment must remain intact, even when resources are limited.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3044\" data-end=\"3047\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"3049\" data-end=\"3113\">\ud83d\udee0\ufe0f Our guiding principle: small teams, big impact<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3115\" data-end=\"3491\" class=\" translation-block\">Helping Hands focuses on small local organisations that are deeply rooted in their communities.<br data-start=\"3227\" data-end=\"3230\">They know every child, every family, every vulnerable person. Working with modest means, they still achieve real impact.
