Roja and Rojesh: continuing their studies in Nepal
For over ten years, Helping Hands follows Roja and Rojesh, brother and sister, from their early school years in Kathmandu to the present day.
Thanks to the loyalty of our donors, they have been able to progress from primary school to collège, lycée and now to higher education.
Their stories illustrate what solidarity, consistency and trust can achieve when they are sustained over time.
A story that grew with Helping Hands
When Helping Hands first met Roja and Rojesh, they were living in a fragile family situation.
Resources were insufficient to pay school fees, and dropping out seemed inevitable.
Thanks to the sponsorship and educational support provided locally, the two children have been able to attend school without interruption.
Year after year, they have made progress, overcome obstacles and found in the school a reference point, a place of balance and confidence.
Today, Roja and Rojesh have become responsible and ambitious young adults, each following their own path, but united by the same desire to succeed.
Roja: continuing her studies in science
Roja has always been a serious, methodical student with a passion for science.
After successfully completing her High School Certificate, she was admitted to Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, where she is currently studying for a Bachelor of Science.
His aim is not just to obtain a diploma, but to put his knowledge at the service of others.
She hopes to be able to teach science or work in the medical field, perhaps even become a nurse, to make a real contribution to the well-being of her community.
«I'd like to teach or work in healthcare, to help others to live better thanks to science.»
- Roja
His days are punctuated by lessons, practical work and exams.
Helping Hands continues to fund her university fees, her science textbooks, her travel and sometimes her meals, because life in Kathmandu remains expensive for a student from a modest background.
Rojesh: a promising technical route
Rojesh, his younger brother, has chosen a more technical path.
Curious, diligent and attentive, he likes to understand how things work.
After high school, he enrolled on a course in electricity and maintenance, a fast-growing field that offers real job prospects in Nepal.
He is now attending a vocational training centre in Kathmandu, where he is learning the basics of wiring, safety and equipment repair.
His aim: to obtain a solid qualification so that he can work quickly and support his family.
«I want to learn a real trade so that I can be useful and help my sister.»
- Rojesh
Helping Hands finances training costs, technical equipment, uniforms and transport to the training centre.
Objective 2025: give them the means to go all the way
Even if they are autonomous and responsible, Roja and Rojesh remain fragile in material terms. Their efforts are constant, but their means are very limited. Helping Hands would therefore like to continue to support them in this crucial phase of their higher education, to help them obtain their diplomas and enter the world of work.
