What happened
On 26 August 2026, a glacier collapsed near Langtang Lirung, triggering devastating flash floods and mudslides along the Trishuli River valley, north of Kathmandu. Within minutes, a massive surge of water, mud, rocks, snow and ice swept through the valley, destroying homes and entire villages in its path. (learn more).
Children are among the hardest hit by this disaster. The floods have destroyed or damaged dozens of schools, putting the education and safety of thousands of children at risk. Many have also lost their homes and, in some cases, their families. Helping Hands is mobilising to provide urgent support where it is needed most.
How Helping Hands is Responding
Since the 2015 earthquake, our partner Ammar Raj Guni has coordinated our work in Kathmandu. We pass your donations directly to him to bring food to affected families. Discover our action in Nepal.
